Being that the WD My Book 3TB is actually a newly released product (September 2013), I suppose I am finally going to have to cave in and give up attempting to install the firmware update for December 2013. They suggested a possibility this could be happening was because I already had the latest firmware installed, but to me that does not seem relative to the fact no internet was detected at all during my 50 times I tried to troubleshoot this problem on my own during the last week. I finally got through to WD support and they were not much help either.

WD has an incredible amount of info pertaining to a number of issues a customer may encounter, and are very specific as to how to trouble shoot issues if they arise, more so than some other manufacturers, still though I am not the only one who has encountered this problem in fact it seems the ‘‘no internet connection detected’’ error goes back several years.
